Quick Overview

Our new Quetzal beaded holiday ornament will be a fun addition to your Christmas tree ornament collection. Hand-beaded by talented Maya artisans, the quetzal bird is the national bird of Guatemala and was venerated by the ancient Maya who viewed the quetzal as the "god of the air". Its name represents “large brilliant tail feather”. The beaded ornament is about 1-1/2 inches wide by 1-3/4 inches tall. The 1-1/2 inch beaded loop makes it easy to hang from your Christmas tree. It’s handmade with primarily green and red glass beads from Czechoslovakia. This beaded holiday ornament makes a great gift for teachers or anyone who appreciates Mayan culture!

Santiago is situated on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Atitlán. About 30 hardworking indigenous Guatemalan artisans work handcrafting beaded jewelry, Christmas ornaments, and personal accessories. Our beaded Christmas ornaments are a great source of work for Maya artisans allowing them to provide nutritious food for their families and send their children to school with the income they earn.
