MayaWorks Guatemalan coin purses are crafted by the artisans of Xetonox. Xetonox is located in the rural village of Tecpan near San Juan Comalapa in Guatemala. The Maya artisans love weaving these colorful and happy designs on their treadle foot looms. The group consists of 8 women who are very talented in the art of weaving as they have been perfecting their craft for most of their lives! Weaving is a traditional skill that is passed down in the Maya culture. Xetonox artisans, just as all of MayaWorks artisan partners work under the principle of fair wage. They earn a living wage for their work that allows for economic development within their community.
