These fair trade and handmade cornhusk angel ornaments are the first product of our artisan partners in the community of Xetonox, located in the rural village of Tecpan in Guatemala ever made. When thinking of a product the 8 artisans of this community did not have to look much farther than their own front door. Their community grows an abundance of corn which is where the idea of the recycled cornhusk angel was born. The artisans collected the cornhusk, dried them and perfected the art of crafting their angels with the help of a few other tools and some string for hanging! It took them many months to make the perfect angel. While the artisans of Xetonox are extremely skilled in weaving and sewing the cute little angels are still one of their most favorite products to create. These angels have helped them bring much needed income into their community!
