The Florecita Baby Collection is a result of the collaborative effort of International designer Mimi Robinson and MayaWorks artisans. These fun and practical Fair Trade Hadmade Flower Baby Sun Hats are woven by a group of 8 women in the hamlet of Agua Caliente in Comalapa. The sewing and final construction is handcrafted by a group of 11 men and women in Comalapa as well. Using expert weaving techniques, Agua Caliente handweaves the fabric on a foot loom. The Chixot group are adept at sewing and constructing difficult products, and handcraft the sun hats with great skill. The artisans are paid a fair wage for their work, and receive other benefits such as literacy classes and technical skills trainings.
