The group is comprised mostly of women but also a few men. The Chixot artisans create this particular bag because of their amazing sewing skills which are apparent in the beautiful craftsmanship of this handmade product. These artisans earn a fair wage and work under safe conditions from their homes. The income they bring in allows them to better support their families. A huipil is a traditional Mayan blouse that is handmade with traditional symbols and is worn for many years. One of the back pockets is specifically made to fit a cell phone or MP3 player so it is always at a convenient reach! The fair trade bag measures 8” wide by 11” tall and 2.5” deep with a single strap dropping 20” from the shoulder to be worn cross-body if chosen.
