Our hand-beaded reindeer holiday ornament is beaded by indigenous Maya artisans from Santiago Atitlán. Santiago is situated on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Atitlán. It is a magical place filled with the legend of the Xocomil, "a shiny crystal palace in the depths" of the lake. Santiago's indigenous Guatemalan artisans love to weave the symbols of nature into their Christmas ornaments, handmade jewelry and personal accessories. Because of the income they earn from crafting handmade holiday ornaments, the Maya of Santiago are able to send their children to school and dream of a brighter future for them.

Reindeer Christmas Ornament

  • Everyone gets a kick out of this adorable hand-beaded holiday ornament. It is handcrafted by the Maya Tzutujil from Santiago Atitlán Guatemala who painstakingly weave every glass bead to create this cute little reindeer. It will look fabulous on your Christmas tree! This holiday ornament measures 1-3/4 inches wide by 2-1/2 inches tall with antlers and all. It has a 1-1/4 inch beaded loop for easy hanging on your Christmas tree. Maya artisans use several tones of brown to create a realistic image of a reindeer – an animal they have never seen in real life. It even has a red nose like Rudolph! Our beaded holiday ornaments make a great gift for teachers or for that special someone who appreciates the craftsmanship of handmade treasurers.
