The 11 Maya artisans of the Chixot weaving group are from San Juan Comalapa. Not only are they skilled weavers but they also possess incredible sewing skills. Although many MayaWorks groups include mostly women artisans, there are a few men in this group who excel at difficult sewing projects. This group makes some of the more complicated sewn products such as our handmade yoga mat bags and Florecita baby line.
Recycled Eyeglass Pouch
Our festive designs on the handmade eyeglass pouch feature recycled huipiles, which are the traditional Mayan women's blouses. Our fair trade eyeglass pouch comes in an array of brightly mixed colorful patterns very typical of Mayan textiles and are all unique. What you see in the photo is only a sample of the array of designs you will receive. Because they are one of a kind, a particular pattern cannot be chosen. The hand-woven pouch measures 4 inches wide and 6-3/4 inches long and has a zippered side pocket to keep keys, license or cell phone. Our Mayan Eyeglass Pouch also has a 20 inch cord for wearing around your neck. It’s a perfect all-in-one handmade accessory that allows you to go hands-free. No more purse-schlepping when you’re on the run! This handmade eyeglass pouch is 100% cotton excluding cord. We recommend cold water washing and line drying.
